About This Project

In his role as Marks Barfield’s project director, Steven was responsible for developing the concept design, CAD model and final visualisations for this proposal.

‘MyPlace’ is a government initiative to provide new youth centres in deprived areas around the UK to give young people a safe place to learn new skills and express themselves. The facilities on offer include multi-media suites, a recording studio, working kitchen and sports/ performance hall.

Steve worked directly with a group of young people from Longbridge who took on the role of client and with whom he developed the progamme and concept for their new centre. They developed an idea based around the notion of creating a factory in reference to rich manufacturing heritage in Longbridge which was once home to the largest car plant in the world. They worked in conjunction with Interbrand who created a brand identity for the centre based apon the ‘Factory’ concept.
