About This Project

In his role as Marks Barfields project director, Steven was responsible for leading the design and development of this competition entry to design a new extension to the World Trade Organisation HQ in Geneva, Switzerland.

The cladding concept is defined by a series of sensor controlled vertical blinds that open and close in relation to the amount of direct sunlight they receive. Conceived to reduce the servicing load to the internal space, the responsive facade would appear to change its transparency in an almost chameleon like fashion in response to the shifting strength and position of the sun.
